On 30 September 2013, Yuichi Sugiyama, head of the Sugiyama Laboratory at the RIKEN Innovation Center in Yokohama, received the 2013 R. T. Williams Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award for his four decades of work on drug transporters and pharmacokinetics.
